It works because of how the screen manages water movement. As you dunk and lift your mitt, water is pulled down through the Dirt Lock and pushed back up around it, carrying dirt particles down and away from where your mitt sits. Flexible rubber tabs grip the base of the bucket so the filter can't shift or float up mid-wash, even with aggressive agitation.

How the Dirt Lock Bucket Filter works:

1. Drop the Dirt Lock into the bottom of your bucket and fill with water.
2. Wash a section of your vehicle, then return to your bucket to reload your mitt.
3. Dunk and agitate your mitt against the Dirt Lock's screen.
4. The Venturi flow pulls trapped grit underneath the screen as you work.
5. Dirt stays locked below the filter, away from the clean water your mitt sits in.

For the two-bucket method, put a Dirt Lock in both your wash and rinse buckets if you can - if you're only running one Dirt Lock, your rinse bucket is where it will do the most work, since that's where the bulk of the grit ends up.
